Camerata Member Trell Scott's "Beef 23:1"

"Ima street nigga in and out, im just happen to be well read (i was locked up for 12 months, reading books by the DOZEN lol) ...and as a point of honor to myself, i only speak on real life happenings even in my braggadocio raps, i never fraud or lie, so i dont worry about that..and yeah i noticed the exaggeration in Em's and Tyler's styles of rapping, Em is in my top 9, but i would never write my shit like that it's too detached from reality for me...but as far as my audience, i appeal first and foremost to myself, then the niggas on my block, then the world, in that order...i'm gonna give people a version of the Street Story relatable to all from my personal perspective..that's my goal, amongst other things...when i write i'm either telling a Story in a simple way because i'm tryna deliver a message or talking shit as slicky as i can (FLOW, metaphors, similes, double entredres, etc.) ....i appreciate Meaningful Music almost as much as i appreciate Energy Music (Club) and i plan to make the cream of the crop of both!"

Christmas Cantata Premiered
After attending the European-American Musical Alliance's summer program at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, France, in the summer of 2012, a fellow classmate there commissioned me to write a Christmas cantata. The work was commissioned by conductor Slade Trammel and his Luminary United Methodist Church Choir, and is scored for full choir, solo violin, organ, and piano. The libretto comprises the birth narratives from the gospels of Matthew and Luke united together.
The work was first performed on Sunday, December 16th, in Ten Mile, Tennessee. It was conducted by Slade Trammell.

Premiere of Martin Connor's "Haitian Requiem"
On April 19th, at 8:30 PM, in Duke Chapel in Durham, NC, there was the premiere of my "Haitian Requiem." The work is a 9 movement, 35 minute funeral mass set to music memorializing the victims of the Haitian Earthquake that happened in January 2010. It is written for full choir, brass quintet, carillon (the bells in Duke Chapel), and percussion, which includes music written for a traditional Haitian drum ensemble that plays at Vodunist religious rituals. Vodunism is the indigenous religion of Haiti. This work seeks to give hope to those who survived the earthquake while asking for the repose of those who passed away in the traumatic event. Towards this end, there is a dramatic dialogue set-up between the mundane ("earthy") Haitian Creole language and the transcendant, etheral ("sky") Latin.
